Paul McCartney has a song accompanied by a short animated video, *Rupert and the Frog*, in which little Rupert discovers an enchanted world inhabited by dancing frogs.
It was from this idea that this automaton was born.
The frog, placed on a flower, spins whenever the mechanism is turned. To simulate the water, I used clear resin. I sculpted and painted the fish, aquatic leaves, and grass.
The main flower was made from paper and hand-painted, and the frog from plastic ceramic.
On the base of the mechanism, I painted small white aquatic flowers and fish.
Fun fact: the base is made from a roll of tape, an object that would normally be thrown away. In the pond area, “frozen” by the resin, I used recycled cardboard to simulate a barrel.
